Laskaridis Shipping of Greece has cancelled a handysize bulker at the South Korean yard.

Commercial director Yiannis Lagarias confirms Laskaridis cancelled the 34,000-dwt Nireas in May, when the ship was due for delivery.

9 q+ A( T- O& a3 O" mLagarias says the yard was behind schedule on the bulker, Hull No 1002, and 21st has since sold it on to other interests. . i, n' k K8 V; i! w' {4 m
9 H1 ]$ B2 a* a& dLaskaridis booked the ship as part of a three-vessel series in 2008 for $36m each.

In the end, Cebi Denizcilik ve Ticaret of Turkey bought the ship for a reported $26m, renaming it Minanur Cebi 1, for slightly more than Laskaridis’s offer. Delivery is now set for July. 8 {( A( @: \. V# y2 R+ U

Lagarias says this ship will also not meet its delivery deadline and will be cancelled. Cebi is understood to snap up this bulker as well. |
