This paper presents the background and work areas of China Wind Power Research & Training Project and analyzes the demand on wind power measurement from wind turbine manufacturers and wind farm operators respectively. The paper highlights the capabilities of Wind Energy Laboratory, CEPRI and the contribution from CWPP by taking examples of power performance and power quality measurements of wind turbine. It shows that strengthening the international cooperation and learning from advanced expertise & experience from abroad is important to promote wind power development soundly in China.
