I don't know the box what you said used for what product. Because the box used for different product, you need to use different method to calculate. I advice you to use software such as pro/e、ug and catia this software all had the function to analysis.
- D# E0 o0 B- Y$ U" b& [     but has a question, use this software, it is difficult to evalulate the results if it is ok, I think this need your experience. usussaly the result  of the intention is not smaller the material of your product.
# X* U) z. z2 f7 i: f     I usually to analysis by Pro/E, It is enough us to calculate.
     Of course, you can use the software of Analys.

If you casn find some existing designs of gear boxs using the same situation, it will be very helpful and the most important.
To analysis gear box is very hard to get very accurate answer, and you still need some existing design to verify your analysis.
Could you tell me more detailed information?
