This book is designed as a handbook with some basic information on polymeric composite( x1 V1 h+ c) x: M7 Z! ]8 Z! D
fabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already2 J- i7 d! r; \ c5 r& i
working in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate
+ p5 b' O; U$ }. c; Qinformation on various aspects, including applications.: }+ B$ t) w4 N+ p; g7 T
The book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from
) j( o( G8 B9 L- F0 zdifferent parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions, d- V; z* M9 [; F# x
and classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of( |- P8 }3 Q! L4 ~; a. q7 s" k
composite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More
! B$ L; U' @3 M& v$ t, r) ~1 fdetailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided$ ?* B y7 I' Y- i
in chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the
/ m0 h; ~7 O1 Y- [! B6 Y; Cfollowing chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)
7 s! w7 p8 q1 k% _processes, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with
: Z# @7 Z: {# \( C- Nthe machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.
