7 x' w1 o5 c; h& N& ifabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already- i9 T8 W3 \' [
working in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate% _; n0 t4 r, {' C1 i/ x& X8 x
information on various aspects, including applications.
5 n% t- C* K1 K9 \' S1 {. qThe book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from
; W1 |% y: ~( K6 N( {7 U/ {5 F( S- `different parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions
. y7 o# U' o0 p: P" m5 zand classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of
* P# t* D8 x4 M7 C$ V1 G9 \" r9 R5 Ycomposite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More7 X( u3 X' Z- Y9 E8 [
detailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided
6 u! Y: C' Z; d0 Kin chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the
% T# B/ D" h8 p. Pfollowing chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)
* C5 T5 x* y( B/ X4 K, iprocesses, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with
8 b8 r, F- j, ^9 x( D! ithe machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.
