the use of Code Case 2199, 2199-1, 2199-2, and 2199-3. These8 o& b( \7 B; f2 W1 z9 f
Cases address the use of 2.25Cr-1.6W-V-Cb (Grade 23) material# `! m/ ~: z9 ]3 S4 Q
for Section I applications. Table 1 of Code Case 2199-3 was3 r6 N' D5 y- F5 J& M: e, r* W
revised to ensure adequate material hardenability and to modify
$ j( y* E1 w& `6 q1 Wsubparagraph (b) to clarify hardness testing requirement. For- k+ N; T8 ^ A3 O$ I$ D
Table 1, the maximum amount of N was reduced, the minimum
1 }2 {5 Q" c, G+ samount of B was increased, a limit on Ni was added, a Ti
* b, W7 u4 o a' s ?requirement was added and a Ti to N ratio was added. An% K. z% x. Q& v, I( J9 j
exemption to the Ti:N ratio was included based on hardness test4 ~: Y8 |, r A' v) x
results from fully hardened material. Sub-paragraph (b) was! u1 k$ y/ x5 d
modified to clarify when in the processing order the maximum
. t# R; j ?2 ghardness limit would be invoked. Manufacturers are cautioned+ \ n" X' r" H" ^3 `8 }+ s
that these revisions to Case 2199 have safety implications
- Z$ q& s: W( K: v3 ^/ Uinsofar as material produced to earlier revisions of the Case7 V$ f) F. P% \% ?2 F$ r
(2199-3, 2199-2, etc.) could meet the chemistry requirements
- p; L1 J# K* }* cspecified in the Code Case, but it may not achieve the specified% [ \# {1 c {4 [4 c
mechanical properties following the normalizing heat treatment.

' F! C" J. {9 |. i' R/ E* _: C2199-4 should now be used, and the use of Code Cases 2199,8 B+ }5 ]0 m/ C* @4 V5 Q# l8 J0 Y
2199-1, 2199-2, 2199-3 should be discontinued immediately. A
